The main results deal with the convergence of the Kähler Ricci flow on Fano surfaces, cf. [\textit{X. Chen} and \textit{G. Tian}, Invent. Math. 147, No. 3, 487--544 (2002; Zbl 1047.53043); Duke Math. J. 131, No. 1, 17--73 (2006; Zbl 1097.53045)]. Theorem 1. Suppose \(\left\{(M, g(t)),\, 0\leq t<\infty\right\}\) is a Kähler Ricci flow solution on a Fano surface \(M\), \(J\) is a complex structure compatible with \((M, g(t))\). If the Riemannian curvature is uniformly bounded along the flow, then, for every sequence \(t_j\to \infty\), there are a subsequence \(t_{j_k}\) and diffeomorphisms \(\Phi_{j_k}:M\to M\) such that \[ \Phi_{j_k}^*\, g (t_{j_k})\to^{C^\infty} h, \quad (\Phi_{j_k})^{-1}_*\circ J\circ (\Phi_{j_k})_*\to^{C^\infty} J, \] under a fixed gauge. Here, \(h\) is a Kähler metric compatible with the complex structure \(J\), and \((M, h)\) is a Kähler Ricci soliton metric, i.e., \(\text{Ric}_h - h = {\mathcal L}_{\nabla f}h\) for some smooth function \(f\) on \(M\). Theorem 2. Suppose \(\left\{(M, g(t)),\, 0\leq t<\infty\right\}\) is a Kähler Ricci flow solution on a Fano surface \(M\). If the Riemannian curvature is not uniformly bounded, then every deepest bubble \(X\) is a finite quotient of a hyper Kähler ALE manifold. Moreover, \(X\) does not contain any compact divisor. Theorem 3. Suppose \(\left\{(M, g(t)),\, 0\leq t<\infty\right\}\) is a Kähler Ricci flow solution on a toric Fano surface. If the initial metric is toric symmetric, then the Riemannian curvature is uniformly bounded along the flow. These statements yield the following result (cf. [\textit{G. Tian} and \textit{S. T. Yau}, Commun. Math. Phys. 112, No. 1, 175--203 (1987; Zbl 0631.53052); \textit{X.-J. Wang} and \textit{X. Zhu}, Adv. Math. 188, No. 1, 87--103 (2004; Zbl 1086.53067)]): Corollary. There exist nontrivial Kähler Ricci soliton metrics on \(\mathbb{CP}^2\# \overline{\mathbb{CP}}^2\) and \(\mathbb{CP}^2\# 2\overline{\mathbb{CP}}^2\). There exist Kähler Einstein metrics on \(\mathbb{CP}^1\times \mathbb{CP}^1\), \(\mathbb{CP}^2\), and \(\mathbb{CP}^2\# 3\overline{\mathbb{CP}}^2\).
