The main result of the paper is that if \(\mathcal F\) is a polar foliation on a simply connected complete Riemannian manifold \(M\) then one can find a section \(\Sigma\) and a smooth map \( H : M \rightarrow \Sigma\) such that the leaves of \(\mathcal F\) coincide with the level sets of the map \(H\). Moreover, the image \(H(M)\) is a fundamental domain for the action of the Weyl group \(W( \Sigma)\) on \( \Sigma\) and \(H(M)\) is isometric to \( M/ \mathcal F\). The author also discusses polar foliations and investigates several equivalent results to the one quoted above. Definitions necessary for the understanding of the paper and interesting examples are also presented.
