In some cases, the analysis of a class of reaction-diffusion equations of the form \[ \Delta u+a\left( x,u\right) +b\left( \left| x\right| \right) x\cdot\nabla u=0,\qquad\left| x\right| >0,\;n\geq3, \] reduces to the study of the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the nonlinear differential equation \[ y^{\prime\prime}+p\left( t\right) \left( y^{\prime}-\frac{y}{t}\right) +\frac{q\left( t\right) }{t}=0,\qquad t\in I=\left[ t_{0},+\infty\right) ,\tag{b} \] where the coefficients \(p,q\) are continuous and integrable on \(I\) and such that \(p\left( t\right) \geq0\) on \(I.\) Regarding ({b}) as a perturbation of the associated homogeneous differential equation \[ y^{\prime\prime}+p\left( t\right) \left( y^{\prime}-\frac{y}{t}\right) =0,\qquad t\in I, \] the author provides conditions that ensure, without additional restrictions on the coefficient \(p\left( t\right)\), the existence of an oscillatory solution to ({b}) that vanishes at infinity. An example of a function satisfying rather technical assumptions of the principal Theorem 1 is provided.
