    Let \(S_{m,h}\) denote the space of polynomial splines of order \(m\) of minimal defect with nodes \(lh\), \(l\in {\mathbb Z}\), and let \(\widehat s\) denote the Fourier transform of \(s\). It is proved that if \(s\in S_{m,h}\cap L_2({\mathbb R})\) then, for all \(k=1,\dots, m-1\), \[ \|s^{(k)}\|_{L_2({\mathbb R})}\leq \left(\frac{\pi}{h}\right)^k\sqrt{\frac{K_{2(m-k)+1}}{K_{2m + 1}}} \;\|s\|_{L_2({\mathbb R})}, \tag{1} \] where \(K_m\) are the Favard constants. The constant on the right-hand of inequality (1) is unimprovable. Also, for \(s\in S_{m,h}\) such that \(\widehat s\in L_p({\mathbb R})\), \(1\leq p <\infty\), the exact inequalities estimating \(\|\widehat s^{(k)}\|_{L_p({\mathbb R})}\) via \(\|\widehat s\|_{L_p({\mathbb R})}\) are obtained.
