Summary: \textit{O. Zanaboni} in 1937 published three notes in the \textit{Rendiconti} [Atti Accad. Naz. Lincei, Rend. Cl. Sci. Fis. Mat. Nat. (6) 25, 117--121 (1937; Zbl 02522178); 25, 595--601 (1937; Zbl 02522179); 26, 340--345 (1937; Zbl 02522180)] in which he proposed a modified version and new proof of Saint-Venant's principle applicable to bodies not necessarily cylindrical in shape. Examples are presented to illustrate that Zanaboni's version is not universally applicable.
