This paper is concerned with the numerical solution of the time-dependent eddy current problem on the whole space. One of the features consists in the introduction of a new variable, namely the time-primitive of the electric field, which plays the role of a vector potential for the magnetic field. The authors establish the existence and uniqueness of the solution both in the continuous and in the fully discrete case.
