Summary: This paper presents a simple and efficient method for determining the rational solutions of a Riccati differential equation with rational coefficients. In case the differential Galois group of the differential equation \[ (E_1) : y'' = ry, ~r \in \mathbb C(x), \] is reducible, we look for the rational solutions of the Riccati differential equation \[ \theta' + \theta^2 = r. \] Examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.
