The authors consider the smoothing method that transforms the complementarity constraints of a mathematical program (MPCC) into a system of smoothing equations by some type of smoothing functions. A log-exponential smoothing method for MPCC is presented. The convergence and stability for the smoothing method are established. Several types of smoothing functions are compared from the aspect of the convergence conditions.
