Let \(R^\ast (\mathcal {M}_g)\) denote the tautological algebra of \(H^\ast (\mathcal {M}_g,\mathbb {Q})\). The author proves that certain classes are torsion (with a specific value of their annihilator). He generalizes results of \textit{S. Morita} [ Ann. Inst. A huge number of relations is given, but it is difficult to use them; sometimes a closed form is obtained. The goal (not yet achieved) is to solve new cases of Faber's conjecture [\textit{C. Inst. Fourier 39, No. 3, 777--810 (1989; Zbl 0672.57015); Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc. 105, No. 1, 79--101 (1989; Zbl 0775.57001)]. A huge number of relations is given, but it is difficult to use them; sometimes a closed form is obtained. The goal (not yet achieved) is to solve new cases of Faber's conjecture [\textit{C. Faber}, in: Moduli of curves and abelian varieties. The Dutch intercity seminar on moduli. Braunschweig: Vieweg. Aspects Math. E33, 109--129 (1999; Zbl 0978.14029)].
