The author gives a definition of a spectrum arising from a 2-category equipped with zeros. In particular, a notion of suspension spectrum is given, and spectra in a 2-category are shown to themselves form a 2-category. In the special case where the 2-category is that of pointed spaces, pointed maps, and based track classes of homotopies, connections are made with previous work of the author and others by extending the notion of \(W\)-topology for a space \(W\) to a \(\mathcal W\)-topology for a spectrum \(\mathcal W\).
