The authors give new proofs of some well-known results from Grothendieck's famous memoir, studying the space of bounded linear operators \({ \mathcal L}(X,Y)\) equipped with the topology \(\tau\) of uniform convergence on compact sets, injective, projective tensor products and the approximation property (AP). Some new results include a characterization of the approximation property for dual spaces \(Y^*\) for which \(Y\) has the AP. This happens if and only if the dual of the inclusion map \(i: ({\mathcal L}(X,Y),\tau) \rightarrow ({\mathcal L}(X,Y^{\ast\ast}),w^\ast)\) is injective, for every Banach space \(X\).
