    In this paper the authors introduce the following subclass of analytic and close-to-convex functions: Let \(h:\mathbb{U}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}\) be a convex function from the open unit disk to the complex plane such that \(h(0)=1\), \(h(\overline{z})=\overline{h(z)}\) and \(\mathrm{Re}\, h(z)>0\) for \(z\in \mathbb{U}\). Suppose also that the function \(h\) satisfies the following conditions for all \(r\in (0,1)\): \[ \min \{|h(z)| : |z|=r\} = \min \{h(r), h(-r)\} , \] \[ \max \{ |h(z)| : |z|=r\} = \max \{h(r), h(-r)\} . \] Let the function \(f\) be analytic in \(\mathbb{U}\) and normalized in the usual way. We say that \(f\in K^{(k)}_{s}(\lambda, h)\), if there exists a function \(g_{k}\in S^{*}\left( \frac{k-1}{k}\right) \) (\(k\in \mathbb{N}\) is a fixed integer), such that \[ \frac{z^{k}f^{\prime} (z)+\lambda z^{k+1}f^{\prime\prime} (z)}{g_{k}(z)} \in h(\mathbb{U}),\quad \text{where } 0\leq \lambda \leq 1\, . \] In this work, by using the principle of subordination, the authors obtain inclusion and distortion theorems for functions in the class \(K^{(k)}_{s}(\lambda, h)\). The results unify and extend the corresponding results obtained by \textit{Q.-H. Xu} et al. [Appl. Math. Lett. 24, No. 3, 396--401 (2011; Zbl 1206.30035)], \textit{Z.-G. Wang} and \textit{D.-Z. Chen} [Hacet. J. Math. Stat. 38, No. 2, 95--101 (2009; Zbl 1178.30022)], \textit{Z.-G. Wang} et al. [Mat. Vesn. 58, No. 3--4, 119--124 (2006; Zbl 1224.30092); Acta Math. Acad. Paedagog. Nyházi.
