Let \[ \mathbb G_2:=\Big\{(\lambda_1+\lambda_2, \lambda_1\lambda_2): \lambda_j\in\mathbb C,\;|\lambda_j|<1,\;j=1,2\Big\}=\Big\{(s,p)\in\mathbb C^2: |s-\overline sp|+|p|^2<1\Big\} \] be the symmetrized bidisc. Put \[ D_\varepsilon:=\Big\{(s,p)\in\mathbb C^2: \sqrt{|s-\overline sp|^2+\varepsilon}+|p|^2<1\Big\},\quad\varepsilon\in(0,1). \] The authors prove that \(D_\varepsilon\) is strongly linearly convex. Consequently, \(\mathbb G_2\) may be exhausted by an increasing sequence of strongly linearly convex domains (in particular \(\mathbb G_2\) is \(\mathbb C\)-convex). Since \(\mathbb G_2\) cannot be exhausted by an increasing sequence of domains biholomorphic to convex ones, it follows that \(D_\varepsilon\) is a strongly linearly convex domain that is not biholomorphic to a convex domain for \(0<\varepsilon\ll1\).
