The authors introduce the concept of upper Hölder index to investigate the smoothness properties of a continuous function. They use expansions in terms of multiwavelets on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) to study the relationship between the corresponding wavelet decomposition and the upper and the lower global Hölder index.
