The authors consider the following multi-parameter system \[ \begin{cases} u''+\lambda h_1(t)f_1(u(t),v(t))=0,\;t\in (0,1),\\ v''+\mu h_2(t)f_2(u(t),v(t))=0,\;t\in (0,1),\\ u(0)=u(1)=v(0)=v(1)=0. \end{cases} \] Firstly, they establish a result of Leray-Schauder degree on the order interval which is induced by a pair of strict lower and upper solutions for a system of second-order ordinary differential equations. Then, by using this result and the fixed point index theory in cones, they obtained the global existence of positive solutions for the above system. On the parameter plane, they found an arc \(\Gamma_0\) which separates \(\mathbb R_0^+\times \mathbb R_0^+\) into two disjoint subsets \(\Omega_1\) and \(\Omega_2\) such that the above system has at least two, at least one, or no positive solutions according to \((\lambda,\mu)\) in \(\Omega_1\), \(\Gamma_0\) or \(\Omega_2\), respectively.
