The paper under review is devoted to the study of certain towers of fibrations \(\ldots \rightarrow P^k_n \rightarrow \ldots P^1_n \rightarrow P^0_n,\) where \(P^0_n = \mathbb R^n,\) \(P^1_n \cong \mathbb R^n\times \mathbb R \mathbb P^{n-1},\) etc., whose fibers are projective spaces of dimension \(n-1\) and each point at any fix level corresponds to a linear subbundle of the tangent bundle of a tower \textit{R. Montgomery} and \textit{M. Zhitomirskii} [Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 956, i-ix, 1--136 (2010; Zbl 1187.58006)]. The authors investigate the problem of classification of orbits relative to the action of the pseudogroup of diffeomorphisms of the base preserving the fibration and the subbundle. Similarly to [loc. cit.] where the case \(n=2\) is reduced to the classification of jets of plane curves, the authors describe tower simple classes of codimension 2 in any dimension \(n,\) making use of the well-known lists of curve singularities by \textit{J. W. Bruce} and \textit{T. J. Gaffney} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 26, 465--474 (1982; Zbl 0575.58008)], \textit{V. I. Arnold} [Proc. Steklov Inst. Math. 226, 20--28 (1999); translation from Tr. Mat. Inst. Steklova 226, 27--35 (1999; Zbl 0991.32015)] and others. In particular, they show how their main result is related with the theory of classification of spatial curve singularities of multiplicity 3 and 4, with arrangements of hyperplanes and the corresponding coding scheme, etc. In the appendix written by W. C. Howard some relations with results from \textit{P. Mormul} [Hironaka, Heisuke (ed.) et al., Geometric singularity theory. Dedicated to the memory of Stanisław Łojasiewicz. Warsaw: Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mathematics. Banach Center Publications 65, 157--178 (2004; Zbl 1056.58002)] are discussed in detail.
