The authors show that a theorem of Buskes and Holland on archimedean almost \(f\)-rings implies an a priori much stronger result of Steinberg on bilinear maps on an \(l\)-group with values in an archimedean \(l\)-group. They further use Steinberg's result to extend some well-known results on group and lattice homomorphisms of Huijsmans and de Pagter.
