The spline quasi-interpolation is a good method for the approximation of bivariate functions and has the useful property that their construction does not need the solution of any system of equations. In the bivariate case this property is particularly attractive and as such the approximation of the function \(f\) and its partial derivatives considered in this paper are done by general \(C^1\) quadratic spline quasi-interpolants and their derivatives. Error bounds are provided in terms of the smoothness of \(f\) and the characteristics of the triangulation. These theoretical results are then compared with similar results in the literature and examples proposed for illustrating various applications of the quasi-interpolants studied in the paper.
