The scattering length formula was formulated and proved by \textit{M. Kac} [Rocky Mt. J. Math. 4, No. 1, 511--537 (1974; Zbl 0314.47006)] for the Brownian motion in \(\mathbb{R}^3\). Several authors extended this formula to larger classes of (transient) processes. In this paper, the authors prove this formula in the general framework of right-Markov processes, making use of Kuznetsov measures.
