The authors study the approximation of periodic solutions for a dissipative hyperbolic equation. They present some basic properties of the system considered and prove the existence of periodic solutions. They first consider a discrete version and prove the existence and periodic solution. In addition, they analyze the discrete problem resulted by adding the numerical viscosity. They prove the main error estimates in the approximation of the periodic solution with and without viscosity. Monochromatic forces \(f\) are considered and analyzed and some numerical simulations are given to illustrate the theory discussed.
