The authors show that the finite generation of adjoint rings proven in [\textit{C. Birkar} et al., J. Am. Math. Soc. 23, No. 2, 405--468 (2010; Zbl 1210.14019)] implies all the foundational results of the minimal model program (including the Rationality, Cone and Contraction theorems, the existence of flips, and the termination of flips with scaling in the presence of a big boundary). Recall that the finite generation of adjoint rings states that: If \(X\) is a smooth projective variety and \(A\) is an ample \(\mathbb Q\)-divisor on \(X\), \(\Delta _i\) are \(\mathbb Q\)-divisors on \(X\) with \(\lfloor \Delta _i \rfloor =0\) and the support of \(\sum \Delta _i\) has simple normal crossings, then the adjoint ring \(R(X;K_X+\Delta _1+A,\ldots ,K_X+\Delta _r+A)\) is finitely generated. Note that this result was reproven in [\textit{P. Cascini} and \textit{V. Lazić}, Duke Math. J. 161, No. 12, 2415--2467 (2012; Zbl 1261.14007)] by a self contained argument relying primarily on the Kawamata-Viehweg Vanishing theorem. Therefore, this paper gives a novel and simplified approach to the minimal model program.
