Let \(X\) be a complex Banach space, \(A_0 \in K(X)\) a fixed compact operator and \(\lambda_0 \neq 0\) an eigenvalue of \(A_0\) with corresponding Jordan form \(J_{\overline{k}}(\lambda_0)\), where \(\overline{k} = (k_1,\dots,k_s)\) describes the non-increasing sizes of the corresponding Jordan cells. Denote by \(K(A_0,\varepsilon,\lambda_0,\overline{k})\) the set of compact operators \(A\) on \(X\) such that \(\| A - A_0\| < \varepsilon\) and \(A\) has a single eigenvalue \(\lambda = \lambda(A) \neq 0\) with Jordan form \(J_{\overline{k}}(\lambda)\) in a neighborhood of \(\lambda_0\). The main result of the author exhibits, for all sufficiently small \(\varepsilon > 0\), the set \(K(A_0,\varepsilon,\lambda_0,\overline{k})\) as an analytic submanifold and describes its tangent space. The case where \(A_0\) has several eigenvalues is also discussed. These results generalize earlier ones for real-symmetric matrices and real self-adjoint operators due to, e.g., \textit{V. I. Arnol'd} [Funct. Anal. Appl. 6, 94--101 (1972); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 6, No. 2, 12--20 (1972; Zbl 0251.70012)], \textit{D. Fujiwara} et al. [Proc. Japan Acad., Ser. A 54, 87--91 (1978; Zbl 0416.35054)] and \textit{Y. Dymarskii} et al. [Topology 48, No. 2--4, 213--223 (2009; Zbl 1197.47034)].
