In recent years, there has been a lot of interest in analysing the impact that some subgroup embedding properties have on the structure of a finite group. This interesting paper is a further contribution to this research project. Introduced by \textit{Y. Berkovich} [Houston J. Math. 24, No. 4, 631-638 (1998; Zbl 0969.20016)], a subgroup \(H\) of a finite group \(G\) is said to be an \(NR\)-subgroup of \(G\) if for all normal subgroups \(K\) of \(H\), we have \(K^G\cap H=K\), where \(K^G\) is the normal closure of \(K\) in \(G\). In addition, \textit{M. Bianchi} et al., [in J. Group Theory 3, No. 2, 147-156 (2000; Zbl 0959.20024)] called a subgroup \(H\) of \(G\) an \(\mathcal H\)-subgroup if \(H^g\cap N_G(H)\) is contained in \(H\) for all \(g\in G\). In the paper under review, the author uses these subgroup embedding properties to characterise the finite T-groups (or groups in which normality is transitive), the finite PT-groups (or groups with permutability transitive) and finite PST-groups (or groups in which the Sylow permutability is transitive) (Theorems 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4). In the second part of the paper, finite groups in which second maximal subgroups (of even order) are soluble PST-groups are classified (Theorems 4.7 and 4.8).
