Leonhard Euler's early lunar theories 1725--1752. II: Developing the methods, 1730--1744 (Q363507): Difference between revisions

This is the second in a series of three papers in which the author describes Euler's work on the motion of the Moon. It is mainly based on an analysis of Euler's textbooks and his unpublished manuscripts written in the period 1730--1744. Euler increasingly uses equations of motion and trigonometric series expansions to find approximate solutions. In 1744 he had almost all the tools at his disposal to develop a good lunar theory.
