The authors consider an arbitrary network of identical leaky integrate-and-fire model neurons, coupled instantaneously through excitation and inhibition. Their aim is to provide a global analysis of the asymptotic behaviour of all solutions. The main results follow from the analysis of a discrete-time map defined on a Poincaré section. Their results are roughly as follows: under certain hypotheses, either the network will synchronise in finite time, or the only attractors are a countable number of limit cycles.
