A bounded linear operator \(T:E\rightarrow F\) acting on Banach lattices is called weak Dunford-Pettis if it maps every sequence of pairwise disjoint elements that converges weakly to zero to a norm convergent sequence. The operator \(T\) is called almost Dunford-Pettis if \(\left\| T(x_{n})\right\| \rightarrow 0\) for every weakly null sequence \( (x_{n})_{n}\) consisting of pairwise disjoint elements in \(E\); \(T\) is called almost weakly Dunford-Pettis if \(y_{n}^{\ast }(Tx_{n})\rightarrow 0\) for all disjoint weakly null sequences \((y_{n}^{\ast })_{n}\) in \(F^{\ast }\) and \( (x_{n})_{n}\) in \(E\). It is proved that a positive almost weakly Dunford-Pettis \(T\) can be characterized by the property that \(y_{n}^{\ast }(Tx_{n})\rightarrow 0\) for all positive weakly null sequences \((y_{n}^{\ast })_{n}\) in \(F^{\ast }\) and \((x_{n})_{n}\) in \(E\). As a consequence, the identity of a Banach lattice \(E\) is almost weakly Dunford-Pettis if and only if \(E\) has the weak Dunford-Pettis property. Theorem 2.3 asserts that the adjoint of every positive almost weak Dunford-Pettis operator \( T:E\rightarrow F\) is almost Dunford-Pettis if and only if the norm of \( E^{\ast }\) is order continuous or \(F^{\ast }\) has the positive Schur property. Corollary 2.7 provides a full characterization of pairs of Banach lattices \thinspace \(\left( E,F\right) \) such that every positive almost weakly Dunford-Pettis operator \(T:E\rightarrow F^{\ast }\) is an almost Dunford-Pettis operator. Precisely, \(E\) should have the positive Schur property or \(F^{\ast }\) be a \(KB\)-space.
