Let \((M,g)\) be a compact oriented Riemannian manifold with boundary. The purpose of this paper is to extract the cohomology of \(M\) by using the operators on the space \(\Omega^{\ast}(\partial M)\) of differential forms on the boundary \(\partial M\). The authors consider the operators \(\Phi:\Omega^{k}(\partial M)\to \Omega^{n-k-1}(\partial M)\) and \(\Psi:\Omega^{k}(\partial M)\to \Omega^{k-1}(\partial M)\) which are defined by the solution to the boundary problem. They show that for the restriction \(\Phi_{k}\) of \(\Phi\) to \(\Omega^{k}(\partial M)\), the equality \(\dim H^{k}(M,{\mathbb R})=\dim \ker \Phi_{k}\) holds. The operator \(\Psi\) satisfies \(\Psi^{2}=0\). The authors show that the \(k\)-th homology \(H_{k}(\Omega^{\ast}(\partial M),\Psi)\) of the chain complex \((\Omega^{\ast}(\partial M),\Psi)\) is isomorphic to the direct sum \(H^{k+1}(M,\partial M,{\mathbb R})\oplus H^{k}(M,{\mathbb R})\) where \(H^{k+1}(M,\partial M,{\mathbb R})\) is the relative cohomology.
