Multiplicity of positive solutions to weighted nonlinear elliptic system involving critical exponents (Q382754): Difference between revisions

Let \(\Omega\) be a smooth bounded domain in \(\mathbb R^N (N\geq 3)\) containing the origin and let \(\overline{\mu}=\left(\frac{N-2}{2}\right)^2\), \(a\in [0,\sqrt{\overline{\mu}})\), \(\mu\in [0,(\sqrt{\overline{\mu}-a})\), \(\lambda\in (0,\infty)\), \(b\in [a,a+1)\), and \(q\in (1,2)\). Moreover, let \(F\in C^1(\overline{\Omega}\times \mathbb R_+^2,\mathbb R_+)\) and \(G\in C^1(\mathbb R_+^2,\mathbb R_+)\) be two positively homogeneous functions of degree \(2^\ast=\frac{2N}{N-2(1+a-b)}\) and \(q\), respectively (here \(2^\ast\) is the critical exponent for the well known Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality). In this paper, the author establishes the existence and the multiplicity of nontrivial nonnegative solutions for the following weighted nonlinear elliptic system involving the critical exponent \(2^\ast\). \[ \begin{aligned} -\mathrm{div}(| x|^{-2a}\nabla u) &=-\mu\frac{u}{| x|^{2(1+a)}}=\frac{1}{2^\ast| x|^{b2^\ast}}F_u(x,u,v)+\frac{\lambda}{q}G_u(u,v)\quad \text{in }\Omega,\\ -\mathrm{div}(| x|^{-2a}\nabla v) &=-\mu\frac{v}{| x|^{2(1+a)}}=\frac{1}{2^\ast| x|^{b2^\ast}}F_v(x,u,v)+\frac{\lambda}{q}G_v(u,v)\quad\text{in }\Omega,\end{aligned} \] \[ u=v=0\text{ on }\partial\Omega. \] The author generalizes previous results related to the above system and a particular class of nonlinearities \(F\), \(G\). Variational methods are used to establish the existence of solutions. In particular, the solutions turn out to be local minima of the energy functional restricted to the associated Nehari manifold.
