Let \(\mathcal{H}\) be a complex Hilbert space and \(B(\mathcal{H})\) denote the set of all bounded linear operators on \(\mathcal{H}\). An operator \(T\in B(\mathcal{H})\) is said to be a \(*\)-class \(A\) operator if and only if \(|T^{2}|\geq |T^{*}|^{2}\) holds. Of course, \(*\)-class \(A\) includes the class of hyponormal operators. In this paper, the authors discuss some properties of \(*\)-class \(A\) operators. In fact, they obtain the following results. (1) If a contraction \(T\in B(\mathcal{H})\) has no nontrivial invariant subspace, then \(T\) is a proper contraction and \(D=|T^{2}|-|T^{*}|^{2}\) satisfies \(\|D^{n}x\| \to 0\) as \(n\to +\infty\) for every \(x\in \mathcal{H}\). (2) Let \(A\) and \((B^{*})^{-1}\) be \(*\)-class \(A\) operators. If \(AX=XB\) for some Hilbert-Schmidt operator \(X\), then \(A^{*}X=XB^{*}\).
