Let \((R, \mathfrak m)\) be a Noetherian local ring of equal characteristic \(p\). \(R\) is said to be \(F\)-pure, if for every \(R\)-module \(M\), the Frobenius action on \(M\) is injective. The author in the paper under review studies the condition that \(R\) admits a canonical ideal \(I \cong \omega_R\) such that \(R/I\) is \(F\)-pure. As mentioned in the paper, this condition was first studied in [\textit{F. Enescu}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 178, No. 2, 159--167 (2003; Zbl 1018.13002)] and an example in [\textit{S. Goto}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 64, 199--205 (1977; Zbl 0408.13008)] showed that even complete \(F\)-pure Cohen-Macaulay rings might not satisfy this condition. The main result of the paper states that if \(R\) is equidimensional and satisfies \(S_2\) condition together with the above mentioned condition then \(R\) is \(F\)-pure. This generalizes a result of Enescu in [loc. cit.].
