Let \(F\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p\). The authors are interested in the category of finite dimensional rational representations of \(\mathrm{GL}_2\) over \(F\). More specifically the main result computes the Yoneda Ext algebra \(\mathbf w=\bigoplus_{k,\Delta,\Delta'}\text{Ext}^k(\Delta,\Delta')\) where \(\Delta\), \(\Delta'\) run over the Weyl modules in the principal block, \(k\geq 0\). (There are countably many blocks, each isomorphic to the principal block.) The algebra \(\mathbf w\) is described as the union of a sequence of algebras obtained from \(F\) by an iterative procedure. There is a combinatorial description as well as a categorical one. To prove these results the authors set up a theory of generalized Koszul duality for certain 2-functors. Iterating 2-functors produces quasi-hereditary algebras with tilting modules. One also encounters differential trigraded algebras and needs to understand a few differential graded equivalences and quasi-isomorphisms.
