Starting from the Hutchinson-Barney theory of fractals generated by an iterated function system (IFS) (i.e., a family of contracting self-mappings on a complete metric space), in the last decades many authors developed that theory by considering more general spaces, generalized contractions and systems composed of infinitely many maps. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the existence and uniqueness of attractors of some (countable) iterated function systems consisting of certain nonlinear contraction-type functions on a complete Menger probabilistic metric space whose triangular norm satisfies rather general conditions. The authors provide some details concerning the triangular norm, the generalized Menger probabilistic metric space and the completeness of the hyperspace of all nonempty closed and bounded (resp. compact) sets. These concepts and results are crucial to obtain the proposed results and, for the reader, to better understand the topic of the paper. Some illustrative examples are given. In the reviewer's opinion, the results of the paper constitute an important contribution to generalize the IFS theory.
