In the recent paper [\textit{A. Dvurečenskij} and \textit{T. Kowalski}, Algebra Univers. 71, No. 3, 235--260 (2014; Zbl 1314.06015)], a construction of pseudo BL-algebras from \(\l\)-groups was investigated; these algebras were called kites. These kites are generalized in the paper under review for po-groups (not necessarily with strong unit or lattice ordered), thus obtaining a new class of pseudo-effect algebras; all algebras in this class are perfect. Even if the initial po-group is abelian, the obtained pseudo-effect algebra may be not commutative. The paper contains various examples of kite pseudo-effect algebras and discovers connections of these algebras with various types of Riesz Decomposition Properties. Some presentations of perfect and kite pseudo-effect algebras and their subdirect irreducibility is discussed; in connection of the latter, studied are the least non-trivial normal ideals. The papers contains the necessary background on pseudo-effect algebras, pseudo MV-algebras and Riesz Decomposition Properties.
