The paper studies the following functional equation: \[ f(xy + cf(x)f(y)) = xf(y) + yf(x) + df(x)f(y), \] which appeared first in the work by \textit{N. Brillouët-Belluot} and \textit{B. Ebanks} [Aequationes Math. 60, No. 3, 233--242 (2000; Zbl 0974.39016)]. For the case \(c\not=0\), Brillouët-Belluot and Ebanks [loc. cit.] gave expressions of all continuous solutions of the above problems \(f:[0,1]\to [0,+\infty)\) satisfying \(f(0)=f(1)=0\). This paper obtains expressions of all continuous solutions \(f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) for arbitrary \(c\) and \(d\).
