Let \(C\) be a class of finite groups, closed with respect to subgroups, quotient groups, and direct products of groups of coprime order. The authors consider the intersection \(K_C(G)\) of all of the normalizers of non-\(C\) subgroups of \(G\) and call it \(C\)-norm. (This is the classical norm for \(C=\{1\}\)). Likewise, in \(C\)-Dedekind groups all non-\(C\) subgroups are normal. Both concepts have been considered earlier for some specific classes \(C\). The authors consider classes \(C\) of nilpotent subgroups in non-nilpotent groups \(G\). They show that \(K_C(G)\) has no or one noncentral chief factor, and describe the situation more closely if a noncentral chief factor exists (Theorems 1 and 2). Further the (non-nilpotent) \(C\)-Dedekind groups are described, more specified for classes \(C\) of all abelian and of all cyclic groups (Theorems 3 to 5).
