Let \(G\) be a finite group. A subgroup \(A\) of \(G\) is said to be a CAP-subgroup of \(G\) if for any chief factor \(H/K\) of \(G\), \(H\cap A=K\cap A\) or \(HA=KA\) holds. There is a recent interest in this property such as in the papers by \textit{Y. Li} et al. [Commun. Algebra 37, No. 4, 1160-1169 (2009; Zbl 1175.20015)] and \textit{Y. Li} [Rend. Semin. Mat. Univ. Padova 123, 249-258 (2010; Zbl 1197.20014)]. Let \(d_p\) be the smallest generator number of a finite \(p\)-group \(P\), and let \(\mathcal M_{d_p}(P)\) be a set of \(d_p\) maximal subgroups of \(P\) with \(\bigcap\mathcal M_{d_p}(P)=\Phi(P)\). The main result of the authors is as follows. Suppose that \(p\) divides \(|G|\), \(P\) is a \(p\)-Sylow subgroup of \(G\) and every member in \(\mathcal M_{d_p}(P)\) is a CAP-subgroup of \(G\). Then either \(P\) is of order \(p\) or \(G\) is \(p\)-supersolvable. -- Moreover, some corollaries are also proved, such as that \(G\) is supersolvable if and only if every member in \(\mathcal M_{d_p}(P)\) is a CAP-subgroup of \(G\) for every \(p\) dividing \(|G|\) and \(p\)-Sylow subgroup \(P\) of \(G\).
