Let \(f: X \longrightarrow Y\) be a mapping betwen compact metric spaces, then the author introduces a strong shape group \(\bar{H}_n (f)\), which fits into a long exact sequence; \[ \dots\longrightarrow \bar{H}_{n+1}(Y) \overset{\sigma_*}{\longrightarrow} \bar{H}_{n+1}(f)\overset{\partial_*}{\longrightarrow} \bar{H}_n (X) \overset{f_*} {\longrightarrow}\bar{H}_n (Y)\longrightarrow\dots \] Moreover in case of an inclusion \(i: A \subset X\) one obtains an isomorphism \[ \bar{H}_n(i)\approx \bar{H}_n (X,A). \]
