The authors conjecture that if \(G\) is a primitive permutation group on a finite set \(\Omega\) and if \(g\) is an element of \(G\), then either the element \(g\) has a cycle of length equal to the order of \(g\) in its disjoint cycle representation, or there exist positive integers \(r\), \(m\geq 5\) and \(k\), such that \(\Omega=\Delta^r\) with \(|\Delta|={m\choose k}\), the group \(G\) is isomorphic to a subgroup of \(\mathrm{Sym}(m)\wr\mathrm{Sym}(r)\) in its product action, where \(\mathrm{Sym}(m)\) induces the natural action on \(k\)-sets of \(\Delta\). In this paper, they reduce this conjecture to the case that \(G\) is an almost simple group with socle a classical group. The paper continues the works of \textit{J. Siemons} and \textit{A. Zalesskii} [J. Algebra 226, No. 1, 451-478 (2000; Zbl 0957.20013); J. Algebra 256, No. 2, 611-625 (2002; Zbl 1028.20010)], and of \textit{L. Emmett} and \textit{A. E. Zalesski} [Commun. Algebra 39, No. 9, 3356-3409 (2011; Zbl 1239.20016)].
