The authors prove that a smoothly bounded domain \(\Omega\Subset\mathbb C^n\) with a Stein neighbourhood basis and which is locally convexifiable and has finite type \(2k\) near a point \(p\in \Omega\), admits a holomorphic embedding \(f:\bar \Omega \to \mathbb C^n\) such that \(f(p)\) is a globally exposed \(2k\)-convex point for \(f(\bar\Omega)\). If, in addition to the above, \(\bar\Omega\) has a Runge and Stein neighborhood, then the map \(f\) can be chosen to be a global automorphism. This holds, in particular, for convex domains of finite \(1\)-type. Furthermore, the authors prove a version of the theorem with parameters. The proof depends on local properties of convexifiable domains [\textit{K. Diederich} and \textit{J. E. Fornæss}, Math. Z. 230, 145--164 (1999; Zbl 1045.32016)], exposing points on bordered Riemann surfaces [\textit{F. Forstnerič} and \textit{E. F. Wold}, J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) 91, No. 1, 100--114 (2009; Zbl 1157.32010)], gluing local corrections to the initial global map using a splitting lemma on Cartan pairs [\textit{F. Forstnerič}, Acta Math. 191, 143--189 (2003; Zbl 1064.32021)], and Andersén-Lempert theory.
