The authors investigate the numerical approximation of second-order elliptic problems in unbounded domains using inverted finite element methods (IFEM). They first, using appropriated weighted spaces, establish a weak formulation of the problem. Later, using IFEM, they approximate the solution and provide convergence and error estimates. A comparison of numerical results is given.
