The authors are some of the best specialists in the non-Archimedean theory of Banach and Hilbert spaces over the Levi-Civita field. This paper is the continuation of a series of works of the authors about this theory. Let \({\mathcal C}\) be the complex Levi-Civita field with its usual non-Archimedean valuation and involution. One of the most important free Banach spaces over \({\mathcal C}\) is the space \(c_0\) of all null sequences on \({\mathcal C}\) equipped with the sup-norm, which is induced by the natural inner product on \(c_0\). We denote by \(e_1, e_2, \ldots\) the canonical Schauder basis of \(c_0\) and by \({\mathcal L}(c_0)\) the Banach space of all continuous linear operators \(c_0 \rightarrow c_0\). In their previous paper [J. Math. Phys. 54, No. 2, 023503, 19 p. (2013; Zbl 1294.46068)], the authors characterized normal projections, adjoint operators and compact operators on \(c_0\). We remark that, in contrast to the classical case, there exist \(T \in {\mathcal L}(c_0) \) which do not have an adjoint. In the present paper, they study some \(B^{*}\)-algebras of operators on \(c_0\), including the ones mentioned above. More concretely, they deal with the following \(B^{*}\)-algebras: \(\bullet\) \({\mathcal A}_0 = \{ T \in {\mathcal L}(c_0) : \forall y \in c_0, \, \lim_j \langle T e_j, y \rangle = 0\}\) (\({\mathcal A}_0\) is the collection of all continuous linear operators on \(c_0\) which admit adjoints); \(\bullet\) \({\mathcal A}_1 = \{ T \in {\mathcal L}(c_0) : \lim_n T e_n =0\}\) (\({\mathcal A}_1\) is the collection of all \(T \in {\mathcal A}_0\) that are compact); \(\bullet\) \({\mathcal A}_2 = \{ T \in {\mathcal A}_1: T = T^{*} \}\) (\( {\mathcal A}_2\) is the collection of all self-adjoint and compact operators on \(c_0\)). The authors define an inner product in \({\mathcal A}_1\), \(\langle . \, , \, .\rangle: {\mathcal A}_1 \times {\mathcal A}_1 \rightarrow {\mathcal C}\), \((S,T) \mapsto \sum_n \langle S e_n, Te_n \rangle\) and prove that this inner product induces the usual norm of operators. Finally, they give some characterizations of the closed subspaces of \({\mathcal A}_1\) which admit normal complements.
