Let \(B\) be a convex centrally symmetric body in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and define the corresponding Hardy-Littlewood maximal function as \[ M_Bf(x)=\sup_ {t>0} \int_B |f(x+ty)| \;dy; \;f\in L_{loc}^1 (\mathbb{R}^n), \] where \(|B|\) denotes the volume of \(B\). The fact that the best constant \(C_p(B)\) in the inequality \[ \|M_B f\|_p \leq C_p(B) \|f\|_p, \] for \(1<p<\infty\), is independent of the dimension was first obtained by \textit{E. M. Stein} in [Bull. Am. Math. Soc., New Ser. 7, 359--376 (1982; Zbl 0526.01021)] for \(B\) the Euclidean ball, and all \(p>1\). The author obtained the same result, for \(p=2\) and \(B\) a general convex set as above, in [\textit{J. Bourgain}, Am. J. Math. 108, 1467--1476 (1986; Zbl 0621.42015)], and it was generalized for \(p>3/2\), in [\textit{J. Bourgain}, Isr. J. Math. 54, 257--265 (1986; Zbl 0616.42013)] and [\textit{A. Carbery}, Bull. Am. Math. Soc., New Ser. 14, 269--273 (1986; Zbl 0588.42012)]. In the present work, the main theorem gets dimension-free bounds in the range \(p>1\) for the \(n\)-dimensional cube.
