Let \(D \subset \mathbb{R}^n\) be a bounded convex body with inner points in the \(n\)-dimensional Euclidean space and let \(V_n(\cdot)\) denote the \(n\)-dimensional Lebesgue measure. Moreover, let \(D-h:=\{ x-h : x\in D \}\) for \(h\in \mathbb{R}^n\). The function \[ C(D,h) := V_n( D \cap (D-h) ) \] is called the \textit{covariogram} of \(D\). \textit{G. Matheron} [Les variables régionalisées et leur estimation: une application de la théorie des fonctions aléatoires aux sciences de la nature. Paris: Masson (1965)] asked whether the covariogram of a bounded convex body \(D\) determines \(D\) within the class of all convex bodies up to translations and reflections and conjectured an affirmative answer for the planar case. \textit{G. Averkov} and \textit{G. Bianchi} settled this conjecture [J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 11, No. 6, 1187--1202 (2009; Zbl 1185.52002)]. The authors of the paper under review compute the explicit form of the covariogram for an arbitrary parallelogram. Moreover, they compute the according orientation dependent chord length distribution function (Definition 1.2) as well as the chord length distribution function (Definition 1.3).
