In the present paper a four-dimensional Liouville domain is defined as a compact symplectic four-dimensional manifold \((X,\omega)\) with oriented boundary \(Y\) such that \(\omega\) is exact on \(X\), and there exists a contact form \(\lambda\) on \(Y\) with \(d\lambda=\omega|_{Y}\). The authors use the embedded contact homology, in brief (ECH), of contact three-manifolds \((Y,\lambda)\) in order to define ECH capacities of four-dimensional symplectic manifolds \((X,\omega)\) which is a sequence of real numbers \[ 0=c_0(X,\omega)<c_1(X,\omega)\leq c_2(X,\omega)\ldots\leq\infty, \] and prove that for a four-dimensional Liouville domain with finite ECH capacities, the asymptotics of the ECH capacities recover the symplectic volume, that is \[ \text{lim}_{k\rightarrow\infty}\frac{c_k(X,\omega)}{k}=4\text{vol}(X,\omega). \] This result is obtained as a corollary of a more general result involving the ECH spectrum of \((Y,\lambda)\), which also has applications to refinements of the Weinstein conjecture.
