Let \(\mathbb{B}(\mathscr{H})\) be the \(C^*\)-algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space \(\mathscr{H}\). In the paper under review, several inequalities involving powers of the numerical radius for product of two operators acting on a Hilbert space obtained by \textit{S. S. Dragomir} in [Sarajevo J. Math. 5(18), No. 2, 269--278 (2009; Zbl 1225.47008)] and [Tamkang J. Math. 39, No. 1, 1--7 (2008; Zbl 1155.47007)] are generalized. Upper bounds for numerical radii of \(A^\alpha XB^\alpha\) and \(A^\alpha XB^{1-\alpha}\), where \(A, B\) are positive, \(X\) arbitrary, and \(0\leq \alpha \leq 1\), are established. Using these results and the convexity of \(f(t)=t^r\) (\(r>1\)), the authors find a numerical radius inequality for Heinz means.
