    The author considers Hamiltonian systems in two degrees of freedom with homogeneous potential of degree \(\beta\in \mathbb{R}\), that is \[ H(\mathbf{p,q})=\frac{1} {2}||\mathbf{p}||^2+U(\mathbf{q}),\quad \mathbf{p}\in \mathbb{R}^2,\quad \mathbf{q}\in \mathbb{R}^2\setminus \{\mathbf{0}\}, \] where \(U\) is an analytic function on \(\mathbb{R}^2\setminus\{\mathbf{0}\}\) satisfying \(U(\lambda\mathbf{q})=\lambda^\beta U(\mathbf{q})\) for all \(\lambda\in \mathbb{R}^+\). The author relates Morales-Ramis theory with McGehee's blowing-up technique to study the non-integrability of such Hamiltonian systems. In particular, he provides two examples: the isosceles three-body problem and Yoshida's example. Moreover, the author ends giving some remarks about his results in the global context of Morales-Ramis theory. In the paper [the reviewer et al., Qual. Theory Dyn. Syst. 8, No. 2, 209--239 (2010; Zbl 1200.37051)], McGehee's blowing-up techniques and Morales-Ramis theory were used to study some problems such as the non-integrability of \textit{collinear restricted three-body problem, homogeneous potentials of degree} \(-1\), among others examples.
