The authors consider the initial-boundary value problem for radially symmetric solutions of the isentropic system of compressible Navier-Stokes equations in a ball in \({\mathbb R}^N\), \(N=2,3\). They study the formation of possible singularities of classical solutions emanating from initial data with strictly positive densities. The main result is that for the blowing-up solutions in the Euler coordinates, either the density concentrates or vanishes in a vicinity of the origin. The latter case (i.e., formation of a vacuum ball) might be accompanied by a concentration of the density at the boundary.
