Gradient schemes have recently been used for the discretization of partial differential equations. The present paper shows that the mathematical framework of the gradient scheme also applies to the discrete analysis of nonlinear parabolic problems involved in some practical applications. Gradient schemes for the approximation of the Perona-Malik equations and nonlinear tensor-diffusion equations are developed. The convergence of these methods to the weak solutions of the corresponding nonlinear partial differential equations is proved. Some numerical tests are presented to support the theoretical results.
