Let \(M\) be a 2-connected manifold and denote by \(LM\) the free loop space of \(M\). The evaluation map \(LM\to M\) is a fibration with fibre \(\Omega M\) which admits a natural section. This permits to define a weak homotopy equivalence \(M\times\Omega M\to LM\) and thus a homotopy equivalence \(\phi:\Omega\,(M\times\Omega M)\to\Omega LM\). The author proves that \(\phi\) is not a \(H\)-spaces map when \(M\) is an even-dimensional sphere (for the natural, as well as for some twisted, \(H\)-space structures). However, he also constructs a natural rational homotopy equivalence of \(H\)-spaces \(\Omega\,(\mathbb{C} P^n\times\Omega\mathbb{C} P^n)\to\Omega L\mathbb{C} P^n\), \(n\geq 2\).
