The aim of the paper is to extend the results on Strichartz estimates for the Cauchy problem to the shifted wave equation, obtained by the authors in [J. Differ. Equations 252, No. 10, 5613--5661 (2012; Zbl 1252.35114)], to the class of Damek-Ricci spaces. These spaces are solvable extensions of Heisenberg type groups equipped with an invariant Riemannian structure. Definitions and properties of Damek-Ricci spaces, basic properties of spherical analysis on these spaces and Sobolev spaces on a Damek-Ricci space and conservation of energy are described in the second and third sections of the article. In the next three sections, pointwise estimates for the radial convolution kernels related to the wave propagator and dispersive and Strichartz estimates for the linear shifted wave equation are proved. The obtained Strichartz estimates are then applied to obtain global well-posedness results for the considered nonlinear Cauchy problem for small initial data.
